ABOUT RESEARCH360 AFRICA

Social research grounded in African realities.

Research360 Africa works with organisations that need reliable evidence from communities, institutions, service users and programme participants across African markets. Our role can range from full research design and evaluation to country implementation, fieldwork and specialist data-collection support.

We combine local field capability with structured research management so that sampling, recruitment, training, respondent protection, supervision, quality assurance and final data handover are visible throughout the assignment.

Assessment & Planning

Needs assessments and situational analysis

Establish what communities, institutions and programmes need before design or investment decisions are made.

We combine stakeholder consultation, household research, service mapping and contextual analysis to identify priority needs, gaps, access constraints and implementation realities.

Needs mappingService gapsStakeholder evidence
Measurement

Baseline and endline studies

Build comparable measurement frameworks that establish starting conditions and track change over time.

Sampling, tools, indicators and field protocols are aligned across study waves so that programme teams can compare results with confidence and understand where change has occurred.

M&E / Evaluation

Monitoring, evaluation and learning

Understand what is working, for whom, under what conditions and what should change.

We support process reviews, mid-term and final evaluations, outcome harvesting, theory-of-change testing and learning studies using quantitative, qualitative and mixed-method designs.

Participant Experience

Beneficiary and participant studies

Examine access, experience, satisfaction, barriers, trust and programme journeys.

Methods are adapted to the respondent group, sensitivity of the topic and programme context, with particular attention to inclusion, respondent burden and safe participation.

Evaluation

Impact and outcome assessments

Assess programme contribution, outcomes and effects using a design appropriate to the intervention.

Approaches can include mixed-method, quasi-experimental, contribution-analysis and theory-based designs depending on the programme model, available evidence and feasibility of comparison.

Livelihoods & Resilience

Socio-economic and livelihoods research

Study household welfare, work, vulnerability and the economic conditions shaping programme outcomes.

Our work can cover livelihoods, informal economies, labour-market participation, household resilience, vulnerability, market access and community-level socio-economic conditions.

Health & SRHR

Public health and health-systems research

Generate evidence on access, utilisation, experience, behaviour and health-system performance.

We support community health, SRHR, patient experience, service-access and health-system studies, with enhanced safeguards where research involves sensitive topics or vulnerable participants.

Education & Youth

Education and youth research

Understand access, participation, learning environments, skills, transitions and programme effectiveness.

Studies may involve learners, teachers, parents, schools, training institutions, out-of-school youth and community stakeholders using age-appropriate and context-sensitive methods.

EducationYouthSkills
Gender & Inclusion

Gender, inclusion and protection research

Design evidence around gender, disability, safeguarding, social inclusion and protection questions.

Research protocols consider safe participation, confidentiality, accessible engagement and appropriate referral or escalation arrangements where topics or participant groups carry heightened risk.

GenderInclusionProtection
Qualitative

Qualitative research

FGDs, IDIs and KIIs designed around the research question, respondent profile and cultural context.

Recruitment, moderation, translation, transcription, field notes and analysis are managed as one research process so that qualitative evidence remains traceable from fieldwork through interpretation.

FGDIDIKII
Quantitative / Fieldwork

Quantitative surveys and data collection

Structured data collection across household, community, facility, telephone and intercept settings.

We manage sampling, programming, recruitment, training, piloting, CAPI/CATI/CAWI delivery, supervision, live monitoring, back-checking, cleaning and structured handover.

Multi-country

Multi-country research coordination

Coordinate methods, tools, field teams and quality controls across multiple markets without losing local context.

Central research management is paired with country-level mobilisation, translation, training, supervision and issue resolution so that outputs are comparable while field delivery remains locally grounded.

INSTITUTIONAL DELIVERY

Local delivery. Consistent research standards.

Strong field access is only useful when it is supported by clear controls. We treat research delivery as a documented process rather than a collection of disconnected field activities.

01

Research governance

Clear study roles, documented protocols, mobilisation plans and issue escalation.

02

Field quality assurance

Training, supervision, live review, back-checking and documented query resolution.

03

Ethics & safeguarding

Consent, privacy, voluntary participation, safeguarding and study-specific risk controls.

04

Data management

Controlled access, secure transfer, cleaning, de-identification and structured handover.

SECTORS & THEMES

Research across programmes, systems and communities.

Our work spans development, public-sector and social-impact questions where context, participation and implementation matter.

OUR APPROACH & METHODOLOGY

A clear research process from design to handover.

Methodological rigour is not limited to the questionnaire or discussion guide. It also depends on sampling, respondent access, team preparation, supervision, ethics, documentation and how field decisions are handled.

01DesignQuestions, indicators, sampling and study logic.
02MobilisePermissions, recruitment, tools and logistics.
03DeliverTraining, fieldwork, supervision and safeguards.
04AssureQA, cleaning, documentation and handover.
RESEARCH ETHICS, SAFEGUARDING & DATA PROTECTION

Participant protection is part of research quality.

Research conducted with people requires more than methodological rigour. Ethical requirements are established during study design and mobilisation, with additional protections where research involves children, adolescents, displaced populations, survivors of violence or other participants who may face heightened risk.

Informed consent & assentClear, voluntary participation and age-appropriate procedures.
Privacy & confidentialityInterview privacy, controlled access and responsible data handling.
SafeguardingTraining, conduct expectations, escalation and study-specific safeguards.
Do no harmRisk-aware research design, field protocols and sensitive-topic procedures.
Ethical review & permissionsFormal review or national permissions where the study requires them.
Data protection & handoverDe-identification, secure transfer, retention and disposal requirements.

INSIGHTS

Practical research insights from the field.

Short notes on field quality, methodological consistency and the practical decisions that shape reliable evidence.

FIELD QUALITY

Why field quality starts before the first interview

Recruitment, instrument testing, training and supervisor protocols often determine data quality before fieldwork begins.

BASELINE / ENDLINE

Comparability starts with consistent design

Wave-to-wave consistency depends on indicators, sampling, tools, timing and documentation of implementation changes.

MULTI-COUNTRY

Standardisation without losing context

Common research standards need to coexist with language, respondent-access and field adaptations at country level.

TEAM & EXPERT NETWORK

Core research management supported by country-level expertise.

Research teams are assembled around the study rather than forcing every assignment through the same staffing model.

Research leadership

Study design, client coordination, methodology, analysis and reporting oversight.

Country & field leadership

Local mobilisation, permissions, training, supervision, logistics and field issue resolution.

Specialist expertise

Sampling, MEL, safeguarding, qualitative research, sector expertise and data management added as required.
